Will of Mary Moore

The following is a verbatim transcript of the last will and testament of Mary MOORE. Mary MOORE, whose maiden name is unknown to the transcriber, was born in North Carolina about 1782. About 1800 she married Travis (sometimes 'Travers') Moore, born ca. 1771 in NC. Travis and Mary MOORE removed to Stewart County, TN, shortly thereafter, being among the early settlers of the county. Travis MOORE died in 1835. Mary MOORE died in 1843.

This will is recorded in Stewart County Wills and Administrations, Book E, page 112.

I, Mary Moore, of the County of Stewart and State of Tennessee, reposing confidence in Almighty God, do Make this my last will and Testament, revoking all others, and so....

1st, it is my will and desire that after my Death my body be decently buried in the burying place on Nathan Brandon's Land and by the Side of the Remains of my Late husband.

2nd, it is my will and desire that all my Just debts and Funeral Expenses be paid out of the first money that may come into the hands of my Executor, hereinafter appointed.

3rd, it is my will and desire that my son, William T. Moore, have all the personal property of Which I may die possessed of Every name, Kind, and description both indoors & out, with the exception of what property I shall hereinafter dispose of.

4th, it is further my will and desire that my son, Wm. T. Moore, keep all of the property of what I may Die seized on the place and at the house of his father if he can conveniently do so, but more Especially All articles of furniture.

5th, it is my will and desire that my Grand Daughter, Mary Elizabeth Vickers, have the saddle which my daughter Jane now has in possession.

6th, it is further my will and desire that my daughter Jane have the bed and Bedstead which she has of mine now in her possession.

7th, I will and bequeath unto my Grand Daughter, Mary Swarr, the bed and bedstead on which I now lie, also one heifer calf.

8th, I do hereby constitute and appoint my son, Wm. Travis Moore, Executor to this my Last will and Testament.
