George Wallace Cemetery

This cemetery is located in Bumpus Mills, on Hummingbird Lane above and near the mouth of Hayes Fork Creek, above the old George Wallace homeplace. This land came into the George Wallace family in 1859. Three generations of George W. Wallaces are buried here. It is possible that Etheldred Wallace, father of the first George W., is also buried here.

Directions: From Bumpus Mills (Hwy. 120), take Antioch Road (at Bumpus Mills Free Will Baptist Church, at the top of the hill.) Go approx. 3 miles until you get to the bottom of the hill at Hayes Fork Creek. Turn right onto Hummingbird Lane and go around the hill beside the creek. Just before you reach Saline Creek, turn right up the hill into a gravel driveway, then immediately back to the right, up a dirt roadbed which leads up to the cemetery. The cemetery is on top of the hill in a clearing, and is regularly mowed.
