Frederick Uhles Will
UHLES, Frederick 7 Feb, 1847
Know all men by these presents FREDERICK UHLES of the County of Smith
and State of Tennessee, being old and weak of body, but of Sound mind and
disposing disposition, do make and ordain this my last will and testament,
thereby revoking all others. In First place, I want all my just debts and
funeral expenses paid.
Secondly I lend to my beloved wife PHEBE UHLES all the track of land
whereon I now live with all the improvements and appurtenances thereunto
belonging, my two negroes, Ann and Jane, all my stock of every description,
the whole of my farming utensils, with the whole of my household and
kitchen furniture, also, the money I may be in possession of at the time
of my death for her use and comfort during her natural life, this property
to remain in the possession of and under the controll of my wife so long
as she may live.
Thirdly, at the death of my wife whatever may remain of my personal
estate, I wish to be sold on a credit twelve months and the proceeds to
be equally divided among my children, MARY BILDERBACK, ELIZABETH BARKER,
RICHARD UHLES, WILLIAM UHLES,to the exclusion of my OTHER CHILDREN under
the firm belief that they have already received more than their full
share of my whole Estate.
Forthly my wish is that my grandson, JOSIAH UHLES, shall have a horse,
bridle and saddle at the value of seventy or seventy-five dollars out of
my personal estate when he arrives at the age of twenty one years. In the
event of the old lady, PHEBE UHLES, should die before Josiah arrives at
full age, in that case, I bind my Executors to furnish him, as directed
out of the proceeds of my personal estate---and lastly I appoint my son
WILLIAM UHLES and friend Doctor James L. Alexander, Executors of this my
last will and testament. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand
this 7 day of July 1847.
