Last Will and
Testament of Joshua Sikes, Sr.
In the name of God, Amen. I Joshua
Sikes senior of the County of Smith State of Tennessee being in a proper sound
mind and memory do make and publish this to be my last will and Testiment this
24th day of October 1822.
Item 1st. I give one negro boy named
Moses unto my son Wm M. Sikes which he has Recd as for his full part of my
Estate.
Item 2nd. I give one negro boy named Thomas
unto my son Terrill Sykes, which he had Recd for his full part of my Estate.
Item 3rd. I give five hundred Dollars
to my son Joshua Sikes, Jnr which he has Recd for his full part of my Estate.
Item 4th. I give one negro woman now
in pregnancy named Hester unto my daughter Rebeckey Wagoner for her farther
part of my Estate.
Item 5th. I give one negro boy by the
name of Gideon unto my Daughter Ann Nelms which she has Recd for her full part
of my Estate.
Item 6th. I give Two hundred and
thirteen dollars and fifty Cents to my daughter Elizabeth Parker which sum her
husband has Recd for her full part of my Estate.
Item 7th. I give one negro girl Judge
unto my grand son Major Lewis Sikes, a son of Elizabeth Parkers for his full
part of my Estate.
Item 8th. I give all of my house hould
and kitchen furniture unto my Grand daughter Nancy Wagoner for her full part of
my Estate.
I Joshua Sikes do appoint
Joshua sikes Jnr. And Danniel Wagoner the Executors to my last will and
testament.

open court by the oath of Dempsey Morris at the February Term 1823. Recorded 21
