Know all men by these presents
that I Obediah Gregory do make and publish this as
my last will and testament
hereby remaking and making void all other wills by me at
anytime made first.
First—I direct that my funeral
expenses and all my debts be paid as soon after my
death as possible out of any
money that I may or do possessed of or may first come
into the hands of my executer.
Second—I give and bequeath to my
beloved wife Elizabeth Gregory the houses and
land around them containing the
orchard and spring the grass lot around as the fence
row runs. One bed and bed stead
and bed clothing during her lifetime. I also give her
another bed and bed stead and
bed clothing her choises* one press and furniture one
chest and clothing belonging to
the chest one clock, one table one looking glass one
set of dog irons and fire shovel
belonging to the house one half dozen chairs, one
pot, one oven and skillet and
lids two iron wedges, two farming hoes, one pole ax,
one hand ax, three augers, three
chisels, one churn, three crocks, one lug chain, one
pair of gearing haimes, one
wheat hogshead, two pickling tubs and
washing tub, two
water buckets, one flat iron,
one cotton wheel, one pare cotton cards, one pare wool
cards, one loom and utensils
belonging to the loom and set candlemoulds. One family
Bible, two song books, one
horse, one side saddle and bridle, one cow and calf and
six chois* hoggs. Fifty dollars
in cash, all the salt on hand, all the bacon on hand, all
the corn and wheat on hand, all
the poultry on the place, one turning plow and bull
tongue plow, one shovel
plow, during her lifetime or widow
hood. If my wife should
marry I want my executor to put
to sale all the personal property here in mention with
the exception of the first named
bed and bed stead and bed clothing.
I also wish my executor at my
death to put sail all the personal
property that is not
dessignated in this will at a
twelve months credit, also to rent out the rest of my lands
yearly by giving the heires the
first refusal of renting the moneys arising from said
rents and sales to be put on
interest, except my wife, should need some for her
support during her life time or
widowhood. At her death I wish my executor to put to
sail all my lands and personal
property and the moneys arising from said sale to be
disposed of as herin directed
First I give and bequeath to my daughter Peggy R. Lankford seventy-five
dollars in
cash also one third of the
remainder in hand the balance then lest to be equally
divided between my son Silas F.
Gregory and my grandaughter Marthey E. Riece*
and my grandaughter Mary R.
Craghead and my grandson Zacharah T.? Gregory. I
do hereby nominate and appoint
my wife Elizabeth Gregory my executor in witness
where of I do to this my last
will set my hand and seal this 26th day of September

produced in open court for probate duly pronounced in
open court by the oaths of T.W.
McNealy and E. W. Cornwell subscribing witnesses

recorded.
