The Will of James Chambers
Note: most of the rest is unreadable but is the proving of the will
Know all men by these present that I James Chambers
Senior so make and publish this as my last will and testament
hereby revoking and making void all others by me at any time
made. First I direct that my funeral expenses and all my
debts be paid as soon after my death as possible out of any
money that I may die possessed of.
Secondly I give to my wife Caroline S. Chambers the tract
of land that I live on to have residence as she sees proper during
her natural life and also the __ of our half of the tract of
land that Ben Taylor lives on and my son John Chambers
is to pay fifteen dollars to his mother for the place that he
lives on and at the death of my wife, my daughter Lucy Taylor
is to have my interest in the tract of land that she lives on
by paying six hundred eighty dollars and my son John
Chambers is to have the tract of land that he lives on by pay-
ing five hundred dollars, and that my sons Samuel and John
Chambers at the death of my wife are to have the homestead tract
of land at six hundred dollars provided they want it ,
and Lastly I want my wife to have all or as much of my personal
property as she wants or that she may need and if there should be
any more than she wants, I want my executors to sell it in
the way they may think best and divide it equally between
all of my children.
I do hereby nominate and appoint S.B. Chambers and J.H.
Taylor my Executors and further I don't wish or request
of them any bond and surety. In witness whereof I do
this day set my hand, This the 17th day of September, 1877.
