State of Tennessee

Smith County

 

I Lent Boulton of said county and state being of sound mind, memory and in usual health do by these presence constitute make and ordain this as my last will and testament. First I resign myself to God who made me, and my body to be decently buried and knowing that life is uncertain I wish to dispose of my personal estate in the following manner.

To wit,

1st I give and bequeath to my nephew Charles Boulton in Smith county one negro man named Jack also one bed and furniture.

2nd I give and bequeath to my nephew Lent Boulton in Smith County one negro boy Jim and my saddle and bridle also one bed and furniture.

3rd I give and bequeath to my niece Frances Boulton in Smith County the following Negroes, to wit, Deletha, Betrey and Luckey children of Wilks and Dilla and their heirs forever to her and her heirs.

4th I further guarantee and give to my old Negro man Wilks and his wife Dilla at my death their freedom.

And I do by these presence revoke and make void all other bills heretofore by me made.

And lastly I request that my trusty friend John Gordon and John L Martin act as my Executors to this my last will and testament and further that all my stock of cattle and hogs, farming tools and furniture be sold for the purpose of defraying debts and the residue to be equally divided between the said Charles, Lent and Frances Boulton.

In testimony where of, I have hereunto, set my hand and seal this third day of November 1814.
