Last Will and Testement of Lucretia Kemp
May Term County Court 1844 - Smith County
I Lucretia Kemp of the County of Smith and State of Tennessee, do make and
publish this my last will and testament hereby revoking and making void all
other wills of mine at any time made.
First, I direct that my funeral expenses and all my debts, be paid as soon
after my death as possible out of any money, I may die possessed of, or may
first come into the hands of my Executor.
2. I direct that my negro girl Isabella together with all the property of
every description I may die possessed of be sold on a credit of twelve
months so soon as convenient or practiable after my death.
3. It is my desire and I hereby give and bequeath unto my sons Wade M the
sum of Twenty dollars, and unto my Daughter Harriet M. the sum of forty
dollars, and unto my son Sampson D. the sum of thirty five dollars and unto
my Daughter Ruth Elizabeth the sum of Seventy dollars for the purposes of
schooling them and defraying expenses, so as to give them an equal education
to those of my children already raised.
It is my desire the balance after deducting the above sums, shall be
equally divided between all my children (???) Ellis B, Alfred M. Kemps
children, on childs part - Henry D., Talitha H. Hogg, Beverly S. , Harry H,
Larkin B, Wade M Harriett W. Samsom D. and Ruth Elizabeth. Lastly I do
hereby nominate and appoint my friend William Loving, my Executor in
witness, whereof I do to this my will set my hand and seal this 9th April
1844.
