Pleasant Shade School in 1916 - 1920. None of the people are known. The school was located
in the middle of Pleasant Shade in the southeast intersection of Hwy 80 and Sloan Branch Road.
The upper story of the schoolhouse served as the Masonic Lodge. In the 1920's, Pleasant Shade
School was relocated to the present site and a new wood frame building was erected. In the 1960's,
this building was replaced by the present brick structure. At this time, the old school site is a
residence and was the home of Dwight Sloan in the 1960's. Calvin Gregory was the photographer.
