Dr. John McCall
Dr. John McCall, the second son of Alexander and Mary Ann Elizabeth Armstrong
McCall, was born in Stokes Co., NC, on November 6, 1803. He married Mary T. Allen,
granddaughter of Grant Allen, and there were two children from this union, Fannie
(m. William Caruthers) and Thomas Alexander. Dr. John died Dec. 21, 1884, in Smith Co.
His grave is thought to be one of the ones marked with a fieldstone in the McCall
Cemetery on Flat Rock Road. He and brother, Creed, are shown living in the house next
door to the McCall property in 1850. I think this is the small, white house which still
stands in 2000.
