Dear Sir:
The data which follow in regard to Bry Gregory were obtained
from the papers on file in pension claim # (2249) based upon his
service in the Revolutionary war, name not shown as Berry or Bray.
The date and place of birth of Bry Gregory and names of his
parents were not given.
While residing in Chatham County, North Carolina, Bry Gregory
volunteered in (1780) and served three months in captains
Patterson's and Dudley Reynold's North Carolina companies. He
volunteered in (1781) and served three months as private in Captain
Benjamin (Herrin's) North Carolina company. He volunteered in 17(82)
and served three months as private in Captain Alex Clark's* North
Carolina company. He was in a battle (at Caine) Creek under Colonel
Literal and General Butler.
The soldier was allowed pension on his application (executed)
September (5), 18(32) at which time he was aged seventy one years and
a resident of Smith County. Tennessee. In (1843) his address was
care of Major (V. H. Williams), Pleasent Shade, Tennessee. He died
in January (1846) place of death not stated.
No reference was made in the claim to wife or children of Bry
Gregory. In 18(32) soldier's brother, William Gregory aged sixty-
eight years, was residing in Smith County, Tennessee.
In order to obtain the last date of last payment of pension and name
and address of the person paid, you should write to the Comptroller
General, General Accounting Office, Records Division, this city, and
site the following (dates) Bry Gregory Certificate # (19100) issued
August (2), (1852) rate ($30) (per) (annum) commenced March 4,(1851) Act of
June 7, 1832, West Tennessee Agency.

*Transcribers Note:
Records show that Bry served under Capt. Alex CLARDY, not Clark, as has been transcribed
over the years. Alex Clardy went to Laurens Co. SC, where he appears on the 1790 census.
