IN LOVING MEMORY

Perhaps  written by the family’s minister.

They attended the Hickory Grove Methodist Church in Kempville.

On Thursday morning, June 23rd., the death angel visited the home of  Mr. & Mrs. Selton McCall and took from them their darling little boy, Tommie Osborne, aged 1 year, 6 months and five days. If anything could have caused me special sorrow it was the death of your dear little boy. He was so lovely, lively, bright and affectionate, ever displaying a thoughtfulness beyond his years; To lose such a promising child truly brings a deep and heavy shadow, but remember that light will sometime break through and there will be a glad and happy reunion in the great beyond. It has indeed been a heavy blow and I scarcely know how to talk of consolation under so bitter an affliction. But think of one who careth for us all and loves little children. We must remember that in this life to grow is to suffer and we can find actual happiness in pain when we once truly realize the truth of it. I have never witnessed death in our family, but with feelings of sorrow I sympathize sincerely with others in their bitter afflictions. We should be perfectly submissive to God's will and not despair. Just think while your child is with you here no more he is in heaven and had you thought how thin the veil was between you and heaven?  God has prepared a bright and happy home beyond the grave and the spirit of your dear child will wait only a brief period when in all sweetness and love he will meet his precious loved ones to part no more. Human consolation is weak. May God bless you in your hour of sorrow is the wish of one who loves you all and one that was with your little darling in his dying hour.
