Hackett, Sarah Elizabeth Sircy 1864 - 1934
The Defeated Creek section has lost one of its most beloved women in the death of Mrs. E. A. Hackett who died at her home at Kempville Wednesday morning, April 3, 1934 after suffering from an illness of several months, caused by heart trouble.
For many years Mrs. Hackett had been a devout member of the Methodist church and lived a consistent Christian life. Funeral services were conducted at the home Wednesday afternoon by her pastor, Rev. P. A. Kirby, assisted by Rev. J. L. Smotherman, a former pastor and friend of the family. Interment was made in the family burying lot.
When a
young lady Mrs. Hackett, who was Miss Sarah Sircy, was united in marriage to
Elijah A. Hackett, one of the good men of the Kempville community. To this union was born a fine family of
children as follows: Eddie and Edgar
Hackett and Mrs. C. W. Robinson of Kempville and Mrs. J. D. Smith of
Hundreds of friends extend deepest sympathy to the aged husband and other members of the family in their bereavement.
