South Carthage Missionary Baptist Church
The South Carthage Missionary Baptist Church is located on Davis Street in South Carthage.
Elder T. Riley Davis started holding meetings in South Carthage shortly after 1920. They
operated as a mission of the First Baptist Church until November, 1928 when they were
granted letters to constitute a new church. At their organizational meeting on November
25, 1928 the sermon was by Bro. P.W. Carney with prayer by Bro. Calvin Gregory.
My grandmother Mrs. R.A. Waggoner was elected the first treasurer.
