NOTE: Tabitha Moore was the daughter of Capt William Bowen of Summer County
who received this property by revolutionary land grant of 640 acres on Nov 20
1784. Tabitha married Armistead Moore about 1796 and they made their home on
this grant. The census of 1820 show them with 5 boys & 4 girls living with them.
At that time they had 5 male slaves and 8 females. In 1830 they had 3 boys and 2
girls living with them plus 15 males and 8 female slaves for a total of 31 in the
household. It 1840 there were no childred with them but there was 13 male and
4 females slaves for a total of 19 with 11 being engaged in agriculture. In 1850
census Armistead had died and Tabitha was aged 71 in household with other Moore
