Boulton Cemetery
The Boulton Cemetery is located 100 yards behind the old Boulton homeplace in Boulton's Bend.
This old house was built with logs in the early 1800's. There is only one stone standing in
the cemetery and some listed in cemetery book are not visible now.

There is a interesting history of the Boulton family in the History of Smith County, probably more
pages than any other family in the book. A tragedy occurred at this home April 1877 when a oil lamp
exploded during refueling and seriously burned four children. Richard and Lula died of their burns and
are buried in Boulton Cemetery. Two little girls, Clara and Elvie, were severely burned and scarred for
life. Neither ever married and their father willed the homeplace to them.
