Mrs. Martha Roberts Jones Dies At 83

Mrs. Martha Roberts Jones, aged 83 years, died at the
home of her daughter, Mrs. Olean Johnson, in Donelson, Tenn., on May 3rd. Death
was attributed to paralytic strokes that came to her the same week that she
died. She was the widow of Newton Jones, who died about 15 years ago. She
leaves one daughter, one brother James E. Roberts, of Route one, Pleasant
Shade, now in the 90th year; and a number of nephews and nieces.
Funeral services were held on
May 5th from a Donelson funeral home by the Rev. Mr. Davis, pastor of Donelson
Baptist church. Burial followed in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Nashville. Mrs.
Jones was a native of the Pleasant Shade section and was a member of Mt. Tabor
Baptist church for many years. She was the daughter of John and Mary Toney
Roberts. She was highly esteemed and numbered her friends by her acquaintances.
She resided for many years at Carthage. A number of friends and relatives from
the Pleasant Shade section attended the funeral and burial.
