William Lloyd Gregory, 66, Dies

William Lloyd Gregory, aged 66 years, died at a
Hartsville hospital at four o'clock Sunday morning after a long illness from
cancer of the stomach. He is survived by his wife, the former Miss Davy Gross;
three sons, Finis Dean and Haskell Gregory, both of Indianapolis; W. L.
Gregory, of Nazareth, Pa., seven daughters, Mrs. Erline Vanscoik and Mrs. Laura
McClard, also of Indianapolis; Miss Sarah Gregory and Mrs. Mary Burns, both of
Hartsville; Mrs. Annelle Cline, also of Nazareth; Mrs. Ada Christine, of
Stroudsville, Pa., and Mrs. Farrelle Hackett, of Lafayette; 16 grandchildren,
two brothers, Charlie Gregory and Marvin Gregory, both of Trousdale County; and
four sisters, Mrs. Dee Whitley, Mrs. Mattie Gregory and Mrs. Alice Toney, all
of Pleasant Shade; and Mrs. Pearl McMurray, also of Hartsville.
Funeral services were held at
two o'clock Tuesday afternoon, with Rev. C. T. Ellis in charge of the services
which were held at the Alexander Funeral Home in Hartsville. He became a member
of the Baptist church at Cato a number of years ago. He was born on Scanty
Branch, the son of Chesley and Sarah Butcher Gregory. He was connected with the
Trousdale County Highway Department for about 20 years.
