A,\u00a0<\/strong>merchant; born Chattanooga, Tenn., March 12, 1844; Scotch-Irish descent; son of\u00a0<strong>Alexander<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Nancy (Martin) MOORE<\/strong>; received common school education; married\u00a0<strong>Minerva MYERS\u00a0<\/strong>May 30, 1867; member Knights of Pythias; began his business career as clerk in a store; entered Confederate army in fall of 1862; member 1<sup>st<\/sup>\u00a0Confederate Cavalry under\u00a0<strong>Gen. Joe WHEELER<\/strong>; lived in Chattanooga, from 1867 to 1872; operated mill property in Sequatchie Valley, in Bledsoe Co., Tenn., until 1890, when he established a mercantile business which he now owns and operates; aided in organization of the Sequatchie County Bank, and is now president of that institution; senior partner of W.
