Oswell Sexton OSWELL S. SEXTON (B.S., TPI; M.S., UT-K) was principal of Huntsville Elementary School (Grades 1-8) from 1930-1934. Served as principal of Huntsville High School from 1946-1955. Mr. SEXTON’s biography appears in Who’s Who in American Education, Who’s Who in Tennessee, Who’s Who in the South and Southwest, Personalities of the South, The National Register of Prominent Americans and International Notables. He is a member of Phi Delta Kappa of the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, is a 32 Degree Mason and Scottish Rite Mason. He is a 50-year member of the Baptist Church, teaches Sunday School and is a Deacon. He and his wife of 62 years, Rema (Jeffers) are the proud parents of Dr. OSWELL SIBLEY SEXTON, DONNA KAY TALLENT, Dr. RAY OWEN SEXTON, Dr. CURTIS CECIL SEXTON, DWIGHT DAVID SEXTONand ELLA RACHEL WILLIAMS. They have 20 grandchildren. They are enjoying retirement at their home in Madisonville, Tennessee.

Ola Q. Byrd OLA 0. BYRD (ETSU; UT; M.S.) was principal of Huntsville High School from 1955-1968. He served 38 years in the Scott County School system as a teacher and was principal of Norma High School, served as assistant principal of Scott High School. His hobbies include teaching a Bible Class of senior citizens at First Baptist Church of Huntsville, serving as deacon and other church activities. In his retirement, he enjoys gardening, boating and watching sports. He and his wife DUVALL LEE (GRIFFITH) have twin daughters, JERRY and JUDY, and live in Huntsville, Tennessee.

George H. Sexton 1968 -1970 GEORGE H. SEXTON (TTU, M.A.) was principal of Huntsville High School from 1968-70. He taught at Norma High School, Huntsville High School, was principal of Huntsville Elementary School for l7 years and is presently teaching at Scott High School. He and his wife RUTH (GOAD) are the parents off our children and four grandchildren and live in Helenwood, Tennessee. |

Arvis Blakley 1970-1971 ARVIS G. BLAKLEY (TTU) was principal of Huntsville High School in 1970 and 1971. He is a graduate of Huntsville High School. He began his teaching career in 1958 in a one-room school at Cherry Fork in Scott County. He taught at Norma High School, Oneida High School and was appointed Principal of Huntsville High School in 1970. He resigned this position to become Director of Oneida Area Vocational-Technical School in 1971, where he presently serves. He has served on numerous Southern Association of Colleges and Schools evaluation teams in the Southeastern United States. ARVIS was selected as the Jaycees Young Man of the Year in 1962. He is a member of the First Baptist Church of Huntsville where he is a deacon and Sunday School teacher. He is married to the former FRANKIE JUNE STRUNK and they have four children — JOHN, MARK, LEESA and JOE. They have two grandchildren — AMANDA JUNE and ANDREW JONATHAN BLAKLEY. |
