James Todd was born in Cannon County on February 24, 1870. He was the son of Mary (Polly) Rackley and William Todd. James had a very adventurous life. He was married 5 times and had a total of 22 children. Due to stories that were told, it is believed that he was arrested, tried and convicted of murder in before 1900. He escaped and fled Tennessee and didn’t return until he was 96. Two years later, he passed away at his home in northeast Arkansas surround by his loved ones.
