A year after a man was convicted and jailed for rape, the Rutherford County Sheriff's Department was still searching for the home of two gravestones that had been turned in to them by the man's wife. When WTVF, channel 5, in Nashville ran a follow up story about these gravestones I was able to find one of the infant gravestones in a cemetery in Cannon County, thanks to the Rutherford County Historical Society who published three cemetery books for the county. I then emailed fellow TNGenWeb county coordinator for Cannon County, Jess Lewis, who not only knew where these gravestones belonged but had actually been to the cemetery a few years ago! Jess noted that the stones had been broken and the pictures I sent him matched what was actually left of them in the cemetery. The Sheriff's Department met Jess at the cemetery and put them in his safe hands to fix and return to the correct final burial sites. Below are the pictures the Sheriff's Department sent me of the once misplaced gravestones. Thankfully, this story has a very happy ending.
