         (After the initial surveys there were many parcels and tracts that were not owned by anyone due to the metes and bounds method of surveying. Those small tracts were later granted by the states of Kentucky or Tennessee depending on where they fell relevant to the old Walker survey line.)

John Payne from Kentucky Nov 25th 1840;
         Robert P. Letcher Esq. Governor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. To all whom these presents shall come, Greetings. Know ye that virtue and in consideration of part of a land office Warrant No. 607. There is granted by the said commonwealth unto John Payne, a certain tract or parcel of land containing fifty six acres, by survey, bearing date 19th day of February one thousand eight hundred and forty lying and being in the County of Robertson in the State of Tennessee south of Walker's line and north of Latitude 36 degree 30 minutes north. Beginning on 4 small post oaks the NE corner of Wm Edward's 70 acre survey running thence North 12 poles to a stake in John Akers line. Thence w 118 poles to two post oaks NE corner of Solomon Payne's 500 acre survey. Thence south with said Payne's line. Thence E 12 poles to a hickory S. G. Rosells NE corner of 640 acres survey, thence W 30 poles to a hickory Wright's corner, thence N 51 poles to a stake SE of Wm Edwards 30 acre survey, thence W 50 poles to a post oak, the SE corner of Wm Edward's 70 acre survey. Thence S 41 poles to a double white oak SE corner of Wm Edward's 70 acre survey thence W 151 poles to a black jack the SW corner of said 70 acre survey, thence east to the beginning. With its appurtenances. Th have and to hold, the said tract or parcel of land with its appurtenances to the said John Payne and his heirs forever. On witness whereof the said Robert P. Letcher Esq. Governor of the commonwealth of Kentucky hath hereunto set his hand, and caused the seal of the State of the said Commonwealth to be affixed at Frankfort on 7th day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty and of the Commonwealth of the forty ninth.
