I John Halcomb have this day bargained, sold and conveyed unto Thomas C. Payne his heirs & assigns forever for the sum of two hundred and twenty four dollars 70 cts to me in hand paid, a certain tract of land lying in Robertson County and 10 district. Beginning at a red oak, thence north to hickory in Robert Chowning’s line, thence west to a stake in Rich. Chowning’s line, thence north to a stake, Simmoms line, thence west to a black oak in Simmons line, thence south to a rock in James Cook’s line, thence east to the beginning. Containing sixty acres more or less. To have and to hold to the said Thos C. Payne, his heirs & assigns forever. I, the said Halcomb , do covenant with the said Payne that I am the lawful seized of said land, have a good right to convey the same said tract, the same is unencumbered and I the said Halcomb will forever warrant and defend the title to the said land to the said T. C. Payne from me, my heirs and my assigns and all persons lawfully claiming the same or any part of tract.
Witness my hand at office this 14th day of April 1848. Rec’d for registration 14 April 1848 at 2 o’clk PM.

Winfield clerk of the County Court for said County, John Halcomb the within named bargainer, with whom I am personally acquainted, who acknowledged that he executed the within deed for the purposes therein contained, Witness my hand at office this 14th day of April 1848.
