         This indenture made the 27th day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty [one omitted] between Daniel Grimes of the County of Montgomery and State of Tennessee of the one part and Howell H. Woodson of the County of Robertson and state aforesaid of the other part.
         Witnesseth that the said Grimes for an in consideration of the sum of one hundred and twenty five dollars to him in hand paid by the said Woodson the receipt whereof the said Grimes doth hereby acknowledge hat granted bargained sold and conveyed and by these presents doth grant bargain sell and convey unto the said Woodson his heirs and assigns forever a certain [tract] or parcel of land situated in the aforesaid County of Robertson on the Waters of Spring Creek of Sycamore containing by survey one hundred and sixty acres be it more or less and bounded as follows ,to wit,
         Beginning at a White Oak and Samuel WEAKLEY South West corner of a six hundred and forty acres survey runs north with the West boundary of said Weakley survey one hundred and ninety eight [198 ] poles to a black gum and ash in his line then Thence West one hundred and ninty nine [199] poles to a small dogwood Thence South one hundred and ninety eight [198] poles to a post oak and dogwood one [hundred?] and twenty one poles to the Beginning to have and to hold the aforesaid tract or parcel of land and bargained premises with all its advantages profits hereditaments and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining unto the only proper use and benefit of him the said Woodson, his heirs and assigns forever and the said Grimes for himself his heirs Executors and Administrators doth covenant and agree to and

with the said Woodson his heirs and assigns that the right title claim and interest of in and to said Land he will forever warrant and defend against the claim of all and any person or persons whatsoever claiming. In Testimony where of the said Grimes hath hereunto caused his hand and seal to be affixed the day and date first herein written.

         This deed of conveyance from Daniel Grimes to Howell H. Woodson was proved in open court by the oath of Archibald L. Fortune and Robert Smith, subscribing witnesses thereto and ordered to be registered.

         Howell H. Woodson was the son of Peter and Elizabeth Hobbs Woodson. Howell married Elizabeth Hunt. He died 16 Feb 1899 in Cheatham Co. TN (created from Robertson).
