In the name of God Amen
         I James Sawyers of Robertson County State of Tennessee being of sound mind and disposing memory and calling to mind that it is appointed for all to die I recommend my soul to Almighty God who give it my body to be buried in a Christian like manner at the discretion of my Executers hereafter named and us touching such world estate wherewith it has pleased God to help me with I give and bequeath the same in the following form:
         1st 1 give and bequeath to my well beloved wife Betsey Sawyers the tract of land I now live on that is not deeded to my well beloved sons, James Sawyers and Thomas J. Sawyers with all the stock of every kind household and kitchen furniture with all the farming tools to be tor her support and the rest of my family that is now living with ?????? during her natural life or widowhood and at her death or intermarriage the said tract of land to be for the support of my well beloved son Sampson Sawyers to be managed by my Executors hereinafter named for his benefit and support and at his death the tract of land to be equally divided between my well beloved sons James Sawyers and Thomas J. Sawyers to them their heirs forever.
         2nd I give and bequeath to my well beloved Sampson Sawyers one feather bed and furniture also the interest of a note that he has on my son Thomas J. Sawyers for $45 for his support during life.
         3rd I give and bequeath to my well beloved son Thomas J. Sawyers the mare he bought of my son Sampson Sawyers with all her increase also one feather bed after ???? to be by him and his heirs freely possessed and enjoyed forever the reason that I do not give my well beloved son James Sawyers a bed furniture he has got his in possession.
         4th At the death or intermarriage of my well beloved wife Betsy Sawyers all my stock of every kind, all farming tools of every kind to be equally divided between my two sons, James Sawyers and Thomas J. Sawyers, their heirs forever having care to let my son Sampson Sawyers have an equal share for his support during life.
         5th I give and bequeath to my well beloved daughter, Nancy Williams two dollars as she has got her full part of my estate and has it in possession.
         6th I give and bequeath to my well beloved daughters Betsey Sawyers, -Rachel W. Sawyers.., and J Emily Sawyers one feather bed furniture to each of them their heirs forever and at the death or intermarriage of my well beloved wife Betsy Sawyers all my household and kitchen furniture to be equally divided amongst my several daughters that is Betsy Sawyers, Rachel W. Sawyers and Emily Sawyers to be freely possessed by them and their heirs forever.
         7th I give and bequeath to my well beloved daughters Betsey Sawyers, Rachel W. Sawyers and Emily Sawyers the two tracts of land that I entered one on the long branch of the Sulphur fork of Red River and the other on the head waters of the Wartrace of the Sulphur fork of Red River both tracts lying in the County of Robertson and the State of Tennessee to them and their bodily heirs forever to be divided amongst them at the discretion of my Executors hereafter and named having care to give each one an equal division and if they shall prefer selling said land my executors is fully empowered to sale said land and make an equal division amongst my several daughters that is Betsey Sawyers, Rachel W, Sawyers and Emily Sawyers.
         8th Lastly, I do hereby constitute and appoint my well beloved sons James Sawyers and Thomas J. Sawyers Executors of this my last will and Testament and I do hereby ????? disannuU, disallow all other wills or Testaments made by me in Writing whereof I have hereunto set my hand seal this 15 day of Sept 1830

For my last will and Testament in presence of Charles Colgin Robert Chowning
         A codicil to the foregoing will
         I give and bequeath to my well beloved son Thomas Sawyers one rifle gun, also one silver watch to by him and his heirs freely possessed and enjoyed forever. It is my will and desire that my executors heretofore ???? give each of my daughters that is Betsey Sawyers, Rachel W. Sawyers and Emily Sawyers one ????? (looks like creature). To each of them having care to make them as equal in value as they can with full power to sell them if the girls should prefer it and divide the amount of sale equally amongst them and if there is any stock more than will support my family my executors has full power to sell part of said stock and divide the amount of sale equally between themselves and I do hereby make this codicil a part of the foregoing will. In ???
Whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 14th day of Sep 1830

         The foregoing will and Codicil of James Sawyers died was presented in court for probate and therefore ??? Came Charles Colgin and Robert Chowning subscribing ???? thereto who being first sworn depose and says that they were acquainted with James Sawyers the Testator, that he acknowledged the foregoing to be his last will and Testament in their presence on the date of the date thereof, that he was in his proper mind and that they listed the same at his request. It is therefore ordered to by the Court to be recorded.
