State of Tennessee Robertson County July 18th, 1796.
         Whereas by an Act of the General Assembly of this State passed at Knoxville in April last for the purpose of lay off the County of Tennessee into Two distinct Counties. The one to be called and known by the name of Robertson County, the other by the name of Montgomery County Appointed William Fort, Charles Miles, William Miles, Benjamin Menees, Isaac Philips, Hugh Henry, Zebulon Hobart & James Crabtree Esquires by commission to serve as Justices of the Peace for the purposes of holding Courts of Pleas & quarter sessions in the said County of Robertson in pursuance of which Act they met at the house of Jacob McCarty the following gentlemen named in the aforesaid commission, To Wit, William Ford, Isaac Philips, William Miles, Benjamin Menees, Bazel Boren, Martin Duncan, John Philips, Zebulon Hobart & James Crabtree Esquires who took the necessary oaths appointed by law for the qualification of Justice of the Peace
         The Court then proceeded to elect their Clerk & made choice of Thomas Johnson who immediately gave bond of Two Thousand Dollars with Jacob McCarty, Bazel Boren & Melchor Ayler his security & qualified according to Law
         The Court then proceeded to elect a Sheriff for said County & made choice of Hugh Henry who immediately gave bond of Two Thousand Dollars, with John Donelson & William Duncan his securities and qualify according to Law
         After which they elected for Coroner in said County Isaac Brown who gave bond of Two Thousand Dollars with Stephen Boren & Daniel McKindley his security and qualified according to Law
