To the Hon Chancery Court
We the undersigned commissioners being appointed by the Hon. Chancery Court at the December Term 1857 to set apart to Mrs. Mary Gilbert Dower out of the real Estate of John Gilbert Dec’d. We being duly sworn have proceeded to set apart to her as Dower 2 tracts or small parcels of Land lying in the 11 Civil District of Robertson County, Tenn., Butted and bounded as follows. To Wit, Beginning at a Stake in the Middle of the branch below the house where the Widow now lives _____ N 33 E, 73 poles to a Hickory in Durrett’s line thence E 29 poles to a Stone Formerly the beginning of the old Tract thence South 73 poles to a Stake in the Creek & ___ pmtery ___, thence Down said Creek With its meanders to the beginning (Including the Man_____ house), Containing Twenty one Acres & fourth. The Following are the boundaries of the Tract lying in the S.W. Corner of the old tract. Beginning on a Stake Jefferson Covington’s Corner ____ uns S 89 3/4, E, 33 1/2 poles to a stake on the East side of a branch thence down at with its meanders N 33 E, 68 poles to a Walnut Isham Treadway’s Corner; Thence N 21 E, with Treadway’s line crossing creek, 16 poles to a W_______ b______, thence S 15 W, 27 poles to a Sugartree; Thence West 68 poles to a stone in Ellisons line; thence South 97 .2 poles to the beginning Containing 36 3/4 Acres. Now we wish it distinctly understood that We give to her the Widow the right of Way from one farm to the other. Which 2 Tracts of Land in our opinion constitute one third of the real estate of John Gilbert Dec’d all of which is submitted & C.
