Goodspeed's History of Tennessee in 1886, states that the Church was located "at head of creek where railroad crosses." This was verified by Mrs. Obera Drake James, whose mother, Minnie Fyke Drake related the same to her. She further stated the Yankee Soldiers who died during the North's occupation of the area, were buried near the church and that their bodies were exhumed, after the war, and returned to the north for permanent burial.
Minutes indicate services were held in June and July of 1865 but the minutes book reads that Spring Creek Baptist Church met on the 4 Lords day in August 1865 with the following minutes found.
"The
Predstinarian Baptist Church at Spring Creek of Sulphur Fork hase agreed to
moove there plac of worship to a knew school on the premise of John Fyks on
account of the destrucktion of there old meeting house by the Federals, about a
mile and a half north-east, the said John Fyk has deeded one acre of land to
the use and benefit of the old order of Baptist as long as they see proper to
accept the same."
A. Robertson, Clerk
At the September meeting "The church took in consideration the destruction and loss of there meeting hous and to try and to recover damages for the same and appointed Brethen J. J. Dunn and William Stroud to attend to this business." Nothing was found to indicate the group received payment for their loss.
On Saturday preceding the 4th Lord day in April 1870 "The building comity ther reported that the meeting house was completed and was dischar- . A deed was then handed in which was maid by J. P. Fyke & Jeremiah Fyke for a porshin of land suficient for meeting house purpose to have and to hold as long as they wish to yourse it for that purpos, The church then appointed the Clerk to hold in said deed until called for. done this conference Apr. 23, 1870." A. Robertson, C Clerk."
Robertson County, TN Deed Book L, pg. 250 shows the following deed:

These minutes were studied for the history of the church and for family history. The excerpts found here were of family interest to the writer and are by no means the only items of interest found. The standards set by our forefathers, as to their conduct both in and out of church, could well be used today. As time permits more data will be gathered and added.
