{"id":548,"date":"2025-12-20T18:35:12","date_gmt":"2025-12-20T23:35:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/roane\/?p=548"},"modified":"2025-12-20T18:35:12","modified_gmt":"2025-12-20T23:35:12","slug":"roane-county-ramblers-recording-artists","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/roane\/roane-county-ramblers-recording-artists\/","title":{"rendered":"Roane County Ramblers Recording Artists"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ngg_shortcode_0_placeholderRoane County Ramblers was a bluegrass\/Appalachian quartet, with roots in Roane County, who recorded for Columbia Records in 1928 and 1929.&nbsp; They were part of the important &#8220;Johnson City Sessions,&#8221; which produced records for a national audience.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Ramblers recorded 14 sides (7 records) in Johnson City and Atlanta.&nbsp; The County Sales label compiled the Ramblers&#8217; recordings on a single vinyl album that is occasionally for sale on-line.&nbsp; Digital versions of their recordings are available on the Internet &#8212; just search!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jimmy McCarroll<\/strong> formed the group and played fiddle.&nbsp; The original members were <strong>Luther Claude &#8220;Luke&#8221; Brandon<\/strong> (guitar), <strong>John Kelley<\/strong> (mandolin) and<strong> William Howard Wyatt<\/strong> (banjo). The nationally renowned fiddler <strong>&#8220;Curly&#8221; Fox<\/strong> appeared on a few recordings.
