Nelson<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\r\n<p>Enrolled at Knoxville, TN on 15 Oct. 1863 as a Capt. in Co. I, 11th TN Vol. Cav. Discharged at Cumberland Gap on 15 Sept. 1864. Also served in 1st E. TN Scouts of Co. E, as a private, on or about Aug 16, 1863, and served as such till promoted to Capt. in the 11th Cavy. Height 6 ft one in., fair complexion, grey eyes, dark hair, occupation was farming &amp; S. teaching. Born June 14, 1835 near Kingston, TN. Married <strong>Louisa I. Winters<\/strong>, at Oliver Springs, TN, on 6 March 1859, by <strong>Rev. Jackson<\/strong>. She was daughter of <strong>Moses C. Winters<\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>William P. Nelson<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\r\n<p>The pension papers for <strong>William P. Nelson<\/strong> b. ca 1845, have affidavits from other soldiers of the Roane area. <strong>Samuel Brashears<\/strong> says he was in the same Company and Regiment\u2014both members of Company G, 1st. TN Inf. Vol, and while at Cumberland Ford <strong>William P. Nelson<\/strong> contracted measles while in the line of duty. <strong>James G. Roberts<\/strong> says <strong>Nelson<\/strong> was \u201clate of Company H., 3 TN Inf, Vol. And of Co. H. 3rd (smear), of which claimant was First Sergeant.<\/p>\r\n<p><strong>William P. Nelson<\/strong> was the son of <strong>William D. Nelson<\/strong>, b ca 1809, and <strong>Martha Ives<\/strong>. His papers have an affidavit from <strong>W. W. Adkisson<\/strong>, says he was late a Serg. Of Co. H. in the 3rd Reg., TN Inf. Vols, and have lived neighbor to him since and including first part of year of 1865.<\/p>\r\n<p><strong>William D. Nelson<\/strong> and <strong>Martha Ives Nelson<\/strong> had a daughter, <strong>Mary Nelson<\/strong>, born abt 1851. She married <strong>Joseph Liles<\/strong> on 24 May 1866 in Roane County.<\/p>\r\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Joseph Liles<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\r\n<p>Roane County, TN, 12th July 1879<br><strong>Joseph Liles<\/strong>, aged 45, was enrolled on the 10th February 1862 in Company H, Third Reg. of Tennessee Vol., commanded by <strong>Capt. James G. Roberts<\/strong>, and was honorably discharged at Nashville TN on the 23rd of February 1865. Personal description&#8211;age 35, height five feet five inches, fair complexion, red hair, blue eyes. While on duty at Powder Springs Cross Roads, GA, about July first, 1864, he received a wound in the neck by a rifle ball while being engaged in conflict with the enemy. Was treated in field hospital. Since leaving service, he has resided in the 16 civil District of Roane County, TN, and has been a farmer. Is partially disabled. Webster Post Office, Roane Co. TN.
