This web site is dedicated to the late Snyder E. Roberts<\/strong>, author of the book, Roots of Roane County, Tennessee – 1792 –<\/em>, published in 1981. [see Sources page<\/a>]<\/p>\r\n

Most all of the contents are from his many years of research in the Roane County area. For a complete list of his books, articles and manuscripts held in Roane County Libraries, go to the TN State Library & Archives<\/a> Web site.  Access the online catalog and enter Roberts, Snyder<\/em> in the search function. (Some manuscripts are only at the McClung Historical Collection<\/a> in Knoxville). There are also a few done by his wife, Pauline Halburnt Roberts<\/strong>. (The book is available from the Oliver Springs Historical Society.)<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

His research papers have remained in Oliver Springs in the Roberts-Harvey Archives, with C. S. “Sonny” Harvey<\/strong> who is owner of the archives, and former president of the O. S. Historical Society.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

I have also included material and links from other submitters. I am happy to share, as were my parents, all this information–but please, do verify anything you find of personal interest with the public records if possible. There’s no way I could type all this and not have clerical errors! Please contact Mr. Harvey regarding any material you want to use for publication to avoid copyright problems.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
