{"id":653,"date":"2011-12-10T20:44:40","date_gmt":"2011-12-11T02:44:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/rhea2\/?p=653"},"modified":"2011-12-10T20:44:40","modified_gmt":"2011-12-11T02:44:40","slug":"deed-nicholas-neal-to-william-mccray","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/rhea\/deed-nicholas-neal-to-william-mccray\/","title":{"rendered":"Deed: Nicholas Neal to William McCray"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>DEED of Conveyance; Nicholas Neal to William\u00a0McCray for 131 Acres on West fork of Whites Creek; 1-August-1818<\/p>\n<p>This Indenture made and entered into this first day of August one thousand eight hundred and eighteen between <strong>Nicholas\u00a0Neil<\/strong> of the County of Rhea and State of Tennessee of the one part, and <strong>William\u00a0McCray<\/strong> of the County and State aforesaid said of the other part. Wtnesseth\u00a0&#8211; That the said <strong>Nicholas Nail<\/strong> for and in consideration of the sum of six\u00a0hundred dollars to him in hand paid the receipt where of is hereby acknowledged<br \/>\nhath and by these present doth bargain sell and grant unto the said <strong>William\u00a0McCray<\/strong> his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land,\u00a0situate lying and being in the County of Rhea including where said <strong>McCray\u00a0<\/strong>now lives being part of a grant issued by the State of North Carolina to <strong>Stockly\u00a0Donelson<\/strong> for six hundred acres bearing date of 20 of September One thousand\u00a0seven hundred and eighty seven on a creek known by the West fork of <em>Whites\u00a0Creek<\/em>. Beginning on the Northwest bank of said creek on a white oak; running\u00a0North thirty eight degrees West thirty six poles to a white oak and hickory;\u00a0then North forty seven degrees West seventy two poles to two dogwoods and\u00a0hickory a the head of a Spring on <strong>Donelson<\/strong> old line; then North thirty\u00a0degrees East two hundred poles to a black oak and white oak; then South sixty\u00a0four degrees East forty eight poles to a post oak and hickory on a branch; then\u00a0South thirty seven degrees East sixty four poles to an ash and poplar on the\u00a0North bank of said Creek; from thence up the different meanders of said creek\u00a0to a hickory tree on the North bank of said Creek; then crossing the creek to a<br \/>\nstake at the head of a spring running to include a spring; then crossing the\u00a0creek again to dogwood and Spanish oak on the North bank of said Creek; then\u00a0with different meanders of said Creek to the big inning, containing one hundred\u00a0and thirty one acres be the same more or lest. Together with all and singular\u00a0the woods, waters, profits &amp; commodities to the said tract of land\u00a0belonging or appertaining, and all the estate, right, title, claim, and demand<br \/>\nof him the said Nicholas Nail his heirs and assigns forever in and to the same\u00a0and every part and parcel thereof either in law or equity. To have and to hold\u00a0the said one hundred and thirty one acres with its appurtenances to the said <strong>William\u00a0McCray<\/strong> his heirs and assigns forever against the lawful claim and demand of\u00a0all and every person or persons lawfully claiming, and will warrant and forever\u00a0defend against all persons whatsoever claiming the same as witness where of I\u00a0have here unto Set my hand and seal, the say and date first above written.<\/p>\n<p>Signed and delivered in presents of us who in\u00a0<strong><em>Nicholas\u00a0Neel<\/em> {<\/strong>seal}\u00a0the presents of each other have set our names<\/p>\n<p>Attest:\u00a0<strong>James Upton, \u00a0<\/strong><strong>Samuel Applegate<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>State of Tennessee} August Sessions 1818 &#8211; \u00a0Rhea County Court<\/p>\n<p>Then was the execution of this deed proved in\u00a0open court by the oath of <strong>James Upton<\/strong> and <strong>Samuel Applegate<\/strong> the\u00a0subscribing witnesses thereto and ordered to be registered. Given under my hand\u00a0&amp; private seal (not having an official seal) at office the 5<sup>th\u00a0<\/sup>day of August 1818.<\/p>\n<p>Dan\u00a0Rawlings Clerk<\/p>\n<p>The last foregoing deed and the certificate\u00a0of the probate thereof were registered here the 21<sup>st<\/sup> day of\u00a0September 1818.
