He was the son of the late J. D. and Margaret Houston Collins, pioneer settlers of Rhea County. He was a prominent farmer of the Clear Creek community until retiring about four years ago because of ill health. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Kate Carney Collins; daughter, Mrs. John West; son, Rattis; five grandchildren, all of the Clear Creek community; two brothers, John and Cleo Collins. Funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday from the home by Revs. Theo Harris and Houk Fairchild. Pallbearers, Garland Carney, Junior Carney, Elvis Atkinson, Raso Polston, Stewart McClure, Clark Carney, John Rector, Paul Smith; honorary, Morgan Day, Tom Houston, Jeff Sherrill. Interment in Montgomery Cemetery.
