Asa	Davis	Rutherford Warren Bledsoe	Andrew DAVIS or DAVIES was born 21 Dec 1750 (White) or 24 Dec 1756 (Armstrong) in the Waxsaw settlement of South Carolina near the line between North Carolina and South Carolina, and was living there when he enlisted on 1 Nov 1775 under Capt. John Barkley, Col. Richardson and Gen. Sumpter, serving two months. He enlisted again and was in Charleston during the battle of Sullivan's Island but was not in the battle. In 1777 he served under Capt. James Pettigrew, Col. Samuel Jack and Col William Terrell in a regiment which was called the Minute Troops. He served in 1779 under Capt. Robert Davis. He volunteered in a cavalry company in Lincoln County, North Carolina, under Capt. Samuel Martin. His papers were lost when his house was burned. He knew Andrew Jackson as a boy. He moved from South Carolina to Iredell County, North Carolina, during the Revolution (Armstrong) or when he was age 49 (ca 1805) (White) and subsequently moved to Rutherford County, Tennessee, and then to Warren County, Tennessee for 17 years, and then to Bledsoe County, Tennessee, where he applied for his pension on 15 Aug 1832. He then moved to Benton County, Alabama (by 1845), and applied to have his pension transferred to that county. (RW Pension File S3256) See also Warren County, Tennessee

SAMUEL DAVIS, born Sep 1757 in in Craven County, South [North?] Carolina, applied for his revolutionary pension on 8 Nov (or 9 Oct?) 1819 while living in Warren County, Tennessee, declaring he had moved to North Carolina about 1772 or 1773 and enlisted in Bute County, North Carolina in April 1776 in Capt. Turner's company, Col. Sumner's regiment, 3rd North Carolina Continental Line. He was discharged Oct. 1778, but re-enlisted in the South Carolina Militia and served six months. He resided in North Carolina until 1801 when he moved to Chester District, South Carolina and resided there until 1818 when he moved to Tennessee. In 1825, he stated he was aged 67 [b ca 1758], a resident of Davidson or Dickson Co TN (White vs. Armstrong, respectively) & that all his family had left him. He had a grant of land in Madison County but returned to Warren County where he died between Jan. 1836 and 1840. He married Lucinda R. Munsey, born in North Carolina in 1760. She survived him and lived with her daughter Rachel in Washington County, Tenn. where she died after 1850 being over ninety years of age. Their children were Benjamin Munsey, born North Carolina, 1785; Samuel, Jr., born 1787, married 1819, Jane Richardson; James U., born 1789; David, born 1791; Lucinda, born 1794; Frances, born 1797; Joseph H., born 1801; Rachel, born 1802; Marcy C., born Chester District, South Carolina in 1806, died unmarried; and William, born 1809. He was in the battle of Jamestown and at the Surrender of Cornwallis. He served under Gen. Benjamin Harrison in one of his enlistments and again under Capt. George Houston. He states that he was well acquainted with Gen. Morgan and Gen. George Washington. Michael Roark testifies that he knew Charles Dyche well and served in the same regiment with him for six months.
