Reverend OLIVER H. P. PRIMM, Methodist preacher, Tennessee Conference, died Dec. 22, 1844 in the 26th year of his age, of consumption.
WILLIS IRVIN WILLINGHAM born Sept. 26, 1834; died Dec. 25, 1844 after his right arm was crushed in the running gear of a cotton gin.
NEWTON ELLIOTT BROWN born Wilson Co., Tenn., Jan. 11, 1817; moved with parents to Franklin Co., Ala., then to Tuscaloosa Co., Ala.; died October 31, 1844.
MARY SCOTT wife of Rev. James Scott; born Culpeper Co., Va.; died Trenton, Tenn., Dec. 16, 1844 in the 44th year of his age; joined Methodist Church, 1836.
Hon. ROGER MINOT SHERMAN, who filled several important political offices in his state Connecticut, died in Fairfield, that state, December 30, 1844 in the 72nd year of his age.

JOHN BLAIR born Guilford Co., N.C., 1792; moved to tract on Mill Creek, three miles above Nashville, Tenn. and lived there for 17 years; moved on to Bedford Co., Tenn. where he lived 12 years; moved on to vicinity of Denmark, Tenn. where he died Dec. 18, 1844; husband and father (7 children). [His tombstone, as read by the present writer, in the Blair cemetery near Denmark, "Sacred to the memory of JOHN BLAIR born in Gilford [sic] County, N.C., October 22d 1767. Departed this life in Madison Co., Tenn., December 18th 1844 in hope of resurrection."]

Mrs. ELENOR G. HART died Henderson Co., Tenn., Nov. 22, 1844 aged 30 years. Her sister, SALLY A. PARKER, died Dec. 29, 1844 aged 28 years; both daughters of John and Elizabeth Coffee.
GEORGE G. HICKS son of George and Julia A. Hicks; died Leake Co., Miss., Dec. 20, 1844. His sister, MARTHA ANN, died March 17, 1844 aged 6 years; another sister, CORNELIA ADELADE, died March 22, 1844 aged 4 years.
WILLIAM McMAHON wrote that his mother [unnamed] died January 7, 1845 in the 95th year of her age; daughter of John Ratcliff, Maryland; reared mostly in Virginia; had seven children and a numerous progeny. "I have had a mother to pray for me every day and night for 58 years until last Tuesday."
MARY WILSON wife of Joab Wilson, esq., Haywood Co., Tenn., died Jan. 5, 1845 in the 48th year of her age; five children. Buried in Denmark, Tennessee. [Buried in the Baptist graveyard in Denmark is Joab Wilson with a tombstone inscribed, "JOAB WILSON died Oct. 1, 1846 aged 60 years, 8 days [September 23, 1786]. He sleeps by the side of son and wife whom he dearly loved through life."]

CHARLOTTE R. WILKINSON daughter of William H. and Georgetta Wilkinson; died Hendersonville, Tenn., Jan. 19, 1845 aged 6 years, 2 months, 1 day [September 18, 1838].
LOUISA GERMANY daughter of James O. and Margaret Cosby; born Ebert Co., Ga., Nov. 30, 1810; moved with parents to Wilkinson Co., Miss.; married Robert Germany, March 5, 1829; died Amite Co., Miss., December 16, 1844.
JOHN WESLEY COWLES son of John and Mary Cowles, died Williamson Co., Tenn., Jan. 5, 1845 in the 6th year of his age.
RUBEN TOLBERT, Graves Co., Ky., while hunting on December 23, 1844 was thrown from his horse and soon died from resulting injuries. Born Montgomery Co., Ky., June 14, 1817; joined Methodist Church, August 1842.
Reverend RICHMOND T. SHELTON died Stewart Co., Tenn., Dec. 29, 1844 in the 37th year of his age; a few months of his life were spent as a Methodist local preacher.
Reverend HAYMAN BAILEY born Maury Co., Tenn., 1810; moved to McMinn Co., Tenn. and married; moved to Cherokee Co., Ala. and preached as Methodist itinerant until his death, Jan. 12, 1845.

PEACHEY T. POSEY wife of David P. Posey born Laurens Dist., S.C., 1785; married in 1804; moved to Tennessee, spring 1832; died Lauderdale Co., Tenn., January 20, 1845.
JUDETH MASSEE born New Kent Co., Va., March 27, 1772; died Limestone Co., Ala., Jan. 22, 1845.
THOMAS JOLLY, oldest preacher in Scotland, having preached at the Dunnet Church for abt. 65 years; died in Caithness, Scotland, Dec. 2, 1845 aged 91 years.

Colonel ROBERT WEAKLEY born Halifax Co., Va., July 2, 1764; married August 11, 1791; died February 4, 1845; his ancestors were Welshmen; his grandfather came to America before the Revolution with sons, William remained in Pennsylvania; Robert, about ten years old, who moved to Virginia and married Jane Stewart and became parents of Robert Weakley. He and his brother, Thomas, fought in the Revolution, at Alamance and Guilford Courthouse; he moved to Davidson Co., Tenn. about 1783 and worked as a surveyor; taught school too. He was a sometime member of the Tennessee legislature. His wife, Jane, daughter of General Matthew Locke, Roane Co., Tenn., died in September 1838. His older daughter married General Brehan and died leaving seven children. His other surviving children were Robert Locke Weakley, Narcissa, wife of Major J. P. Hickman and Jane, wife of J. L. Brown; from whom he had a numerous progeny. He was described as tall and erect; high forehead.
CATHARINE ROWELL born N.C.; died Jan. 20, 1845 in the 55th year of her age. Her husband, William Rowell, died October 1844.
DAVID JAMES ROWELL born Lincoln Co., Tenn., Sept. 21, 1829; died Jan. 5, 1845; husband and father (8 children).
LOUISA FIELDS youngest daughter of Bartholomew Fields, a Revolutionary War veteran; died Dale Co., Ala., Dec. 14, 1844 in the 46th year of her age.

JOHN MICHAEL HINTON oldest son of Harrison B. Hinton, Davidson Co., Tenn.; died Feb. 1, 1845 aged 11 years, 9 months and 11 days [March 8, 1833].
Mrs. CHERRY HORN, formerly of Virginia, died Williamson Co., Tenn., Feb. 8, 1845 in the 53rd year of her age; 6 children.
ELIZABETH McQUIG wife of Robert G. McQuig, Giles Co., Tenn., born Williamson Co., Tenn., Dec. 16, 1805; died Nov. 12, 1844; nine children.
ELZINA BUCKHANNON wife of James Buckhannon; died Sept. 24, 1844; gave instructions that her newly-born son was to be baptized and named Milton Andrew Buckhannon.
PHEBY PAMPHLIN died Nov. 1, 1844; eleven children; daughter of Bejamin Ramy and sister of Rev. Milton Ramy.
JAMES McGOWAN born Nov. 10, 1790; died January 3, 1845; one of his children was named John S. McGowan. West Tennessee.
MARY P. DICKENS wife of Samuel B. Dickens; daughter of Edward Davis; born N.C.; moved to Madison Co., Tenn. and later to Panola Co., Miss.; her oldest son, EDWARD, died about two previously to her own death.

CAROLINE E. R. ELLIS born near Shelbyville, Tenn., June 25, 1821; died Dec. 20, 1844; daughter of Littleberry and Frances Greene; married L. W. Ellis, Nov. 14, 1839; three sons. Hempstead Co., Ark.
On February 14, 1845 a farmer, Captain DAVID REED, near Swanzey, New Hampshire, hitched his cattle to a log, which, on starting, had rolled and caught him by the leg and broke it. Unable to extricate himself, "he lay helpless and had froze to death when found the next day." Left a widow and several children.

Mrs. EUNICE HAWTHORN died Jan. 10, 1845 in the residence of her son-in-law, Allen Pages, Conecuh Co., Ala., aged 68 years.
MARY BATES, SR. died in residence of her daughter, Margaret Rucker, Bradley Co., Tenn., Jan. 30, 1845 in the 79th year of her age; member of Methodist Church for 56 years.
LEVI DAVIS died Trigg Co., Ky., Jan. 3, 1845 in the 60th year of his age.
WILLIAM WOFFORD born eastern shore, Maryland, Sept. 16, 1776; at age of four years moved with parents to Rockingham Co., N.C. and lived there until he was 22 years old and married Sarah Yerkis, two years after which they moved to Guilford Co., N.C., living there 18 years, then moving on to Stewart Co., Tenn. for three years, then to Henry Co., Tenn. where he died January 16, 1845.
JAMES D. ELLET died Lawrence Co., Tenn., Feb. 19, 1845 in the 37th year of his age; buried in his family graveyard.

HARRY and GILPHA PITT, husband and wife, were members of the Baptist Church in N.C., then in Tenn.; he was a Revolutionary War veteran; she died Feb. 9, 1845 one month shy of 85 years; he died Feb. 13, 1845 within months of 85 years. Reverend HENRY F. HILL, Methodist preacher, Alabama Conference, son of John O. and Margaret Hill; born Union District, S.C., Sept. 8, 1812; licensed to preach in Methodist Church as local preacher, 1839; admitted as itinerant preacher in Ala. Conference in December 1840 and labored in several of its circuits before he died near Aberdeen, Miss., Feb. 12, 1845.
MARY ANN NICHOLAS daughter of Edward and Mary Goode; born Ky., June 6, 1814; moved to Panola Co., Miss., January 1845; weak, she fell into "the fire", suffering extensive burn wounds from which she died after horrible pain, March 21, 1845.

Reverend JOSEPH PROCTOR born Rowan Co., N.C.; died Estill Co., Ky., Dec. 2, 1844 in the 90th year of his age; served in Revolutionary War for four years; was at Fort Boonesborough when it was beseiged by Indians. A Methodist local preacher for more than half a century.
ELIZABETH ROBB daughter of James and Elizabeth Standifer; wife of Henry Robb, Jefferson Co., Ky.; born Feb. 28, 1788; married April 27, 1809; died January 31, 1845.

Reverend HENRY S. PAYTON, Lauderdale Co., Tenn., died in the residence of his father-in- law, J. P. Littlejohn, Fayette Co., Tenn., March 7, 1845 in the 40th year of his age. He was a Methodist local preacher and preacher ''as much as he could consistently." He married Mrs. Laurence, January 1845.
LEVI W. MOORE died Arkansas County, Ark., March 18, 1845; native of Kentucky; moved to Illinois and married there to Margaret Vertrees; returned to Ky., then returned to Ark. in 1840 where he died aged 37 years, 3 months and some days.
NANCY LAVENDER wife of Nelson Lavender, born Amherst Co., Va., August 13, 1786 and moved to Williamson Co., Tenn., 1803; died of congestive fever, April 26, 1845.

After his father's death in the Shenandoah Valley he with his widowed mother and family moved to Jefferson Co., Tenn.; he settled in McMinn Co., Tenn., 1826; active Methodist layman. Died Feb. 12, 1845.

Reverend ISAAC BROOKFIELD died Poinsett Co., Ark., Feb. 27, 1845 in the 47th year of his age; six children. Began as Methodist itinerant preacher but located and filled the role of local preacher.

DANIEL MOONEY died in residence of father-in-law, Abner Boice, Weakley Co., Tenn., May 13 1845. Methodist preacher. His only child, WATSON McKENDREE MOONEY, died a few days before he himself died.
WESLEY TAYLOR died May 7, 1845 in the 46th year of his age; labored as a Methodist local preacher at age 17 years before entering the itinerant ministry; husband and father (13 children).

HUGH HAYS died Wilson Co., Tenn., May 23, 1845 aged 56 years, 5 months [May 23, 1789]; born Davidson Co., Tenn.; moved to Wilson Co., Tenn., 1822; his father, Samuel Hays, was killed by Cherokee Indians near the Hermitage, when he was a boy; he himself fought in the War of 1812, was wounded December 23, 1814 in the fighting around New Orleans with the British. He married and had three children. The article states that he died in Wilson Co., Tenn.

HENRY LLOYD born Brunswick Co., Va., Oct. 30, 1770; died Marshall Co., Miss., April 19, 1845; moved west in 1805 with the Browns, Harrells, Abernathys to Giles Co., Tenn.; thence to Marshall Co., Miss.
SARAH OWIN daughter of Francis and Margaret Hatton, Norfolk Co., Va.; married John Owin (died 1826) when 19 years old and settled in Newberry Dist., S.C. where they reared children; as widow moved to Shelby Co., Tenn.; died March 6, 1845 aged 76 years. One of her children was Rev. Travis Owin.

LEVI RUTRIDGE TURNER son of John C. and Martha Ann Turner; died Hinds Co., Miss., June 17, 1845 aged 3 months, 26 days [April 22, 1845]. His sister, MARTH ALEXANDRIANNA TURNER, died June 20, 1845 aged 7 year, 11 months and 18 days [July 2, 1837].
