The Rev. L. F. WHITTEN. Easta Boga, Ala., wrote on July 12, 1881 that DAVID M. EMMET went to Talladega Co., Ala. in 1877-78; obtained a license to preach in the Methodist Church, 1879 but three months later "ran off" with his wife's sister; he subsequently deserted her and their baby in Georgia and she went to her sister's in Calhoun Co., Ala.; he went there, abducted her again. He was "of low stature, red weak eyes, sprightly in conversation and a fine speaker." He had practiced law and taught school at Easta Boga; was "very fond of whisky…. a great scoundrel. "
