MOORE CEMETERY
Moore Cemetery, April 1999
The Moore Cemetery is located on Swindle Creek. Leo and David Donahue recorded Moore Cemetery November 27, 1987. David Donahue revisited the cemetery March 1989; updated it April 16, 1999; and checked and updated it September 11, 2004.
Between 1989 and 1999 the cemetery was damaged by construction of an access drive around its perimeter. The drive can be clearly seen to cut across two grave shaft depressions on the western side of the cemetery. The western most row of the cemetery in 1987 consisted of two mounded graves covered with rocks and four or five graves marked with fieldstones. These graves had been overtaken by the woods and were outside (west of) the mown area. This row may have been covered or obliterated when the access drive was built. The access drive also has caused severe erosion just south of the cemetery.
