In the name of God Amen, I Alexander Braden of the county of Madison and state Tennessee being weak in body but in a perfect state of mind, having a desire to settle my worldly affairs Do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form as follows, that is to say First I give to my wife Margt. The plantation on which I live of one hundred and seventy acres together with all my stock of every kind, Household and Kitchen furniture and all my farming utensils, also the following negro slaves, Nathan Coffee Sil and Candis, all which is to be her right and property during her life and then said tract of land to my son Harvey forever, The balance of her property to be equally divided among my four daughters to son in law James Wylie a negro woman named Flowry, to my son James Braden I give two notes of one hundred dollars each on Ragsdale of Wilson County. To my son Alexander Braden, I give the tract of land he now lives on, beginning on Anderson's north west corner thence south passing Anderson's south west corner twenty poles, thence west to a branch running N. W. with said branch to its junction with another on the west running north. Thence up said Branch as far South as opposite Anderson's S.W. corner, thence west to my west boundary, thence N. & E. to the beginning also a negro man called Silas. The tract of land whereon my daughter Peggy lives I give to the heirs of her body containing ninety-five acres ,beginning at the said Anderson's S. E. corner, running south and west for compliments also I give to my daughter Peggy Douglas a negro woman named Sindy and her two children. To my daughter Nancy Braden I give forty five acres of land, beginning at Peggy's South West corner, thence south and west for compliments also one negro girl called Sissy, one bed and furniture, one horse and other stock equal to the rest of my children. To my daughter Elisa D. Anderson, I give thirty-five acres of land beginning at Peggy's South West corner, running West and North for compliments also one negro named Zuck. To my daughter Terrissa A. Love I give thirty-five acres of land beginning at Peggy's southwest corner running south and west for compliment also a negro boy named Allen. To my son Harvey C. Braden I give one negro boy called Benn, horse and saddle and other stock equal to the rest of my children. My blacksmith tools I allow to be sold and the money to be equally divided among my sons and my wagon at the death of my wife to go to my sons. I hereby appoint my beloved wife and son Harvey my executors to this my last will and testament, revoking and disannulling all other in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 24th day of January 1832
