GOODMON OWEN, Madison Co., Tenn. for "love and affection" for his daughter, SYRENA, wife of PATRICK M. DUFFEY and her children, gave her a featherbed, 2 mules. To Syrena's children ALMINA, LATITIA, ALABAMA and RACHEL he gave 3 head of cattle and some livestock. To Syrena's sons JONATHAN F. DUFFEY and HENRY M. Marriage Contract. Whereas LEWIS EVERMON and MARGARET B. A. GREEN were to be married soon, he agreed that she would retain title to the property she brought to their marriage, including a negro boy, John, 23 yrs old, a buggy and an iron gray saddle horse and several hundred dollars then possessed by Jacob Martin and David Green, Jr., adm of the late husband of Margaret's estate. March 26, 1849. Reg Oct. 3, 1857. /Madison Co., Tenn. marriage records show that a license was taken out for this marriage dated March 27, 1849/

Indenture, Feb. 30, 1855, JAMES M. GATELY, Madison Co., Tenn. sold to HENRY McFARLIN 65 acres (and including one acre belonging to the free church and schoolhouse which is not conveyed in this indenture), for $378. JAMES GATELY, late of Madison Co. by his will gave all his estate in trust and the will of the late JOHN GATELY gave his exec discretionary authority to sell such lands as he deemed advisable, and in this will John Gately made his son, James M. Gately exec of his will. Will was proven May 1852. As such exec, Gately had sold the 65 acres to McFarlin. Reg Oct. 5, 1857. No wits.
