Saw in yesterdays paper the death of J. W. Norwood an old citizen of Jackson. He came here about 1842. He married a Miss Houston, a sister of Judge Houston of Aberdeen, Miss and 2d or 3d cousin of Sam Houston. There was perhaps opposition to the marriage. I remember to have heard him say shortly after coming to Jackson. He told his wife's kin he would not go to see them until he was able to go in a carriage drawn by 4 horses. He was a printer by trade and worked in a printing office when he first came here, maybe West Tenn. Whig started about that time by W. W. Gates & McCowat. He was 75 in

Although there appears to be no tombstone for Anderson it seems likely he is buried in Riverside Cemetery along with many others of that surname.

Mr. Tom Murrell Sr. was buried this evening…. Knew he was feeble. He was an elder in the Presbyterian church. Came from Nashville to Jackson I think in 1845. engaged in the mercantile business. Mr. Tom leaves 2 sons living in Jackson. Tom, city marshall /sic/ and Lindsey, engaged I believe in the insurance business.
