Bryan B. Prothy
May 14, 1823
July 17, 1881

NOTE: This ornate, upright stone is actually that for BRYANT BECTON, whose death date is clearly AUG. 17, 184_. The last no. is missing, as it has been chipped from the stone. The letters on this inscription are large and have dissolved center-out, making it difficult to decipher, but Alexander A. Campbell qualified as Becton's adm. July 5, 1842, so that it seems likely that Becton died Aug. l7, 1841. See Madison Co. Court Min. Book 5, page 132.
