PLEASANT HILL CEMETERY

Pleasant Hill Cemetery is an antebellum cemetery located on east side of Old Medina Road 0.7 mile north of Interstate 40 in the Gilmore community. There was a church there at one time. The cemetery is maintained and at present (2004) is administered by Northside Methodist Church. There are several dozen unidentified and unmarked graves.

David Donahue recorded Pleasant Hill Cemetery February 23, 2004 based on an earlier record of the cemetery made by the late William B. Elam of Medina, Tennessee. Mr. Elam recorded the cemetery circa 1973. His record appeared in Family Findings, Vol. XV, No. 3, July 1983, pp. 95-98. This is referred to as Elam in notes below. An updated and generally better record of the cemetery appears in Cemetery Records of Madison County, Tennessee, Volume II The Northern Half of County (Mid-West Tennessee Genealogical Society, 1998). This is referred to as Cemetery Records in notes below. Three markers not found in 2004 were included at the end of the list in Cemetery Records which suggest that they were not found in the mid-1990s but were copied from the earlier Elam record.
