NOTES FROM ORDER BOOK NO. 1 of Obion County, Tennessee, abstracted by Abigail Rice Hyde. Many of names listed are known to have been living west of Reelfoot Lake, the area that became Lake County.

January, 1834:

J. W. WOOD and A. M. L. McBEAN appointed admrs. of the estate of JOHN FARR, dec'd.

WILLIAM W. WATSON is qualified as deputy sheriff.

 

January, 1835:

The following men appointed a jury of view to mark out a road from Troy to RICHARD T. MERIWEATHER'S on the Mississippi River, to-wit: JESSIE DAUGHERTY, JOSEPH FULK, STEPHEN MITCHELL, G. B. COLYER, E. M. HUTCHINSON, WILLIAM PAYNE, AND RICHARD T. MERIWEATHER.

JAMES DAVIS, Coroner is paid $10.00 for holding inquest over the bodies of JOSEPH WALLACE AND BERRY COFFEL

WILLIAM HARPOLE appointed guardian of SUSAN, ADALINE and GRAVES DICKERSON, minor heirs of ROBERT DICKERSON, Dec'd.
