HENDERSON COUNTIANS REPORTED
IN PERRY COUNTYHenderson County, Tennessee was not created until November 1821 although there had been settlement within its area since 1818. Land grants for persons there were given as located in Stewart County, an older middle Tennessee county or were given simply by surveyor district, range and section. Perry County was created in November 1819 and included what is now Decatur County. Jurisdiction for persons living in what is now Henderson County was extended generally to Perry County. A few land grants were cleared in that county and most Henderson County settlers were also listed in the 1820 census of Perry County.
