CENTER HILL CEMETERY
Center Hill is a large community cemetery located on Center Hill Loop Road just west of state highway 22, about seven miles south of Lexington. It seems to be an old cemetery, though the lack of any fieldstones makes its age difficult to estimate. Assuming that the open areas in the center of the cemetery once contained fieldstones, there probably are 100-200 unmarked graves here. A new area of burials to the northeast on the opposite side Center Hill Loop Road is reported separately at the end of this listing.
David Donahue recorded Center Hill Cemetery March 23, 1996 and checked and updated it March 2, 2004. Anita Webb and Betsy Patterson recorded Center Hill Cemetery circa 1974. Their record appears in Henderson County, Tennessee Cemetery Inscriptions (R. H. Harris, Memphis, Tennessee, 1976), Vol. I, pp. 191-205. They estimate "at lest 100 unmarked graves." This earlier work is referred to as "Webb and Patterson" in the notes below.
