Mt. Carmel CommunityOn Saturday morning, October 22, 1994, the angel of silence came and granted peace and eternal rest to the soul of Mary Irene "Rene" Bradley Toliver. Mary "Rene" was born in Decatur County, TN on January 25, 1921, to the late John and Ermon Bradley who preceded her in death.
She was united in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Allen Yarbrough and to this union four children were born: Willie Mae Yarbrough Hunt, Jerry Paul Yarbrough, Lola R. Yarbrough Levi, and Barbara Ann Yarbrough who preceded her in death. She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Creamous F. Toliver in the year of 1970 and to this union no children were born.
She professed a hope in Christ at an early age at the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Mt. Cannel Community, where she was on the Mother Board, Letha Missionary Circle, and Pastor’s Aide.
Then later in life, she moved to Indianapolis, IN residing there for many years, and became a faithful member of the New Bethel Baptist Church. There, she was a Senior Usher, a member of the Missionary Bible Theology Class, House Hold of Ruth #5226 Eastern Star. She was also a member on the Senior Citizens Board of Scotts Hill. She was a licensed Cosmetologist and retired nurse’s assistant of the Methodist Hospital. Upon her retirement, she returned to Tennessee residing at Bath Springs, Tennessee and returned her church membership to the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. She belonged in the church choir, Missionary Society, Pastor’s aide, and Mother’s Board.
She leaves to mourn her passing son Jerry P. Yarbrough of Indianapolis, IN, daughters Lola R. Levi of Indianapolis, IN, and Willie Mae Hunt of Parsons, TN; three sisters: Mrs. Mae L. Johnson, Lexington, TN, Mrs. Louise Barber and Mrs. Sophia Brasher, both of Bath Springs, TN.; one foster sister Beedie Pettigrew of Lexington, TN; one brother Mr. George McElrath of Decaturville, TN; two brothers-in-law George Brasher of Bath Springs, TN and Stone Walker of Cleveland, OH; four sisters-in-law: Ola Mae McElrath of Decaturville, TN, Gracie Greer of Newbern, TN, Helen Curry of Dyersburg, TN, and Josephine Brown of Nebraska; a son-in-law Bernard Levi, Sr. of Indianapolis, IN; two daughters-in-law Dear Southward Yarbrough and Dezather Mastin Yarbrough, fifteen grandchildren, thirty-five great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
