KITTY WRIGHT CEMETERY

Located southwest of McLemoresville, Tennessee. Turn east onto Howse Church Road from Highway 220 and drive about 2.1 miles to Clay Farm Road; turn right onto the latter road and drive about 2.3 miles to Simmons Lane; turn onto the latter gravel road, veering to the right going south and at a point about .2 mile walk directly west up a ridge about .1 mile to this small cemetery. There are about four moderate-sized sandstones here and one large one marking graves; also standing sentinel is a tall cedar tree. Further on this gravel road about .4 mile was located a local site called Kittie Springs.

KITTY WRIGHT (died 1920) and others of her family are buried here. Mrs. Wright's death certificate gives her birth year as 1847 but in the 1900 U.S. census, her birth year is given as 1833; born in Virginia. She was the wife of Alman Wright, a native Tennessean. As she was given as aged 45 years in 1880 census and had a son, Samuel Danna, by another union, aged 21 years that year, the 1833 date is more likely correct.

EDNA HOWARD who died December 18, 1934, aged 39years (daughter of Dan Mason) is buried here.
