OLD HICO/HICO CEMETERY
From Highway 22, south of McKenzie, Tennessee, turn west onto Hico Road; drive about .3 mile to a sharp curve in the latter road; from that point walk with the barbed wire fence west through a wooded area to this hillside cemetery. There appear to be several hundred graves in this cemetery, only a few of which are marked.

NOTE ONE:
A short distance south of Old Hico/Hico Cemetery, .l mile west from the Juncture of Highway 22 and Vernon Thomas Road, about .2 mile south of the latter road, was a cemetery where burials ceased about sixty-five years or more ago, an older Hico Cemetery; remembered now by only a few older local residents, this cemetery was obliterated later and now is part of a residential site.NOTE TWO:
A short distance from Old Hico/Hico Cemetery was located, about .5 mile from Highway 22 over Airport Lane, at a site now occupied by the Plumley building and parking area, was once located the family cemetery of JOHN HANNA (1804-1893) and wife, JANE HANNA (1804-1870) and several members of their family. In August 1987 their remains and tombstones were removed to nearby Shiloh Cemetery. Buried there, in unmarked graves, were about six blacks, including a former slave of the Hannas, ANN HANNA (November 1842-190?) whose grave and those of the other blacks being unmarked were not exhumed and were built over.
