Spanish American War (1898)

• The Tennessee State Library and Archives (TSLA) holds records pertaining to this war.  They have:

•     1)  A typed abstract listing Tennesseans who served in this war is available. The abstract provides name, residence, rank, date and place of enlistment, unit, and date, place of discharge and remarks. We can photocopy the entries pertaining to a surname.  Inquiry and copies can be ordered directly from them.  For ordering instructions, please refer to their web page:  ordering military records by mail.

•     2)  an online Index to Service Abstracts of Soldiers in Tennessee Volunteer Units in the Spanish American War. 

• The TSLA also has microfilm records available to view through interlibrary loan.  These records are:

•     3)  Spanish American War, 1898. Adjutant General Records, State of Tennessee. TSLA Mf. #RG 216, reels 21-23. Index is arranged by regiment. Information includes name, rank, organization, residence, date and place mustered in, and date and place discharged.
